family summer vacation, part 3

Finally, a post on the third part of our vacation! Since the last post dada (and mama this semester!) have begun school, you've been sick, mama's been sick ... it's been hectic. So let's finally get down to writing about the vacation we took over a month ago!

We drove south from Charleston to Brunswick, GA, a place we've been many times. Time to visit Nini and Pawpaw! And Aunt Bec Bec, Aunt Cathy, Uncle Scott, Uncle Tater, cousins Kati and Anna. You spent lots and lots of time playing with Kati and Anna.

We had two nights of bluegrass, a visit from a new puppy named Huckleberry (top photo), a late night visit to the beach (bottom photo), and ate lots of good food (middle photo). Actually, mama and dada ate lots of good food, you were mostly picky and ate bananas. And crackers. And green tea ice cream. You certainly were not having any of that sushi.

We get to go back to Brunswick in November! I bet you can't wait to see everyone again. Every once in awhile I'll catch you saying to yourself: "Nini ... Pawpaw ... Nini ... Pawpaw." :-)

family summer vacation, part 2

Next stop: Charleston, SC! We stayed with great-uncle Paul and great-aunt Ester and had a great time! We explored downtown Charleston (you loved the pier!), ate amazing pizza, and spent lots of time visiting with Paul and Ester. Your favorite part was the staircase in their house, haha. Up and down and up and down and up again!

I wish you weren't such a picky eater right now; you could have enjoyed Ester's fantastic Filipino food!

Next up ... Brunswick.

family summer vacation, part 1

From July 11 - July 19, 2009 we took our first week-long summer vacation. We've been up to Wisconsin for Christmas break, so it was not our first family vacation, but it was the first one we've had in warm weather!

The first place we went was Tryon, North Carolina to visit our friends Julia, Stan, and their daughter Ariella. You met Julia when you were just two months old, but you had not met Ariella, who is just three months younger than you :). Despite the occasional sharing issue, you two got along really well. You even held hands in the car once - it was so cute, the two of you in your matching Britax car seats, holding hands!

We had a lot of fun at their house. We went to an outdoor bbq dinner with bubbles (pic #1), watermelon (pic #2) and a toddler pool (what fun!). We visited Flat Rock Bakery in Flat Rock, NC, where we had amazing pizza and baked goodies. Picture #3 is of you and Ariella sitting at our picnic table on the back deck, waiting for lunch. Cuties.

Stay tuned for part two of our vacation: Charleston, South Carolina, where we went to visit Uncle Paul and Aunt Ester.

fun in the sprinkler on the 4th

What fun! We went over to your friend Brian's house to celebrate the Fourth of July and had a great time. You two played on the swing set, with trucks, in the dirt and (because of the dirt!) in the sprinkler. I wish I had taken a picture of you COVERED in dirt and ash before we put the swim diapers on and turned on the water!

You and Brian stayed up soooo late and watched the fireworks at the park. They scared Brian a bit, but you loved them Isaiah. I loved listening to you "oooh," "ahhh," and "woah!" You clapped at the end too! You are such a sweet boy, and I love watching you interact with the world.

Next year maybe you'll get to hold a sparkler ;).

The Learning Tower

Nini came to visit you shortly after you got your Learning Tower. Mom and Dad didn't know what to do with you whenever we'd get home and be obligated to make dinner. We wanted to spend time with you. So, we got you this booster that you can climb into and work at the counter, wash dishes, or play with your cars while dinner is being made. (Mom and Dad like to hang out in the kitchen at other times too.) Well, Nini came to visit because Dad had to get his tonsils out. While Nini was playing with you she decided to show you how to climb in, out, and around your new tower. So, you need to thank your Nini!

last weekend

Was hot and summer-y and lots of fun. These pictures show dinner out on Saturday, meeting a furry friend at the bike race downtown, and free watermelon at the grocery store. But there was also: playing with Mike and Leslie, cookie dough ice cream, walks in the stroller, soaking up the sunlight streaming through the window in your favorite spot, a handcycle race, a nap with monkey, homemade pesto rolls, a visit to Marie, and a nearly nap-less Sunday!

Spending time with you is so much fun; I love our little adventures.

like mother like son ...

Too funny! Just like mama - you like to have an orderly plate.

I love watching your personality come out.
